     The Namibian Manufacturers Association (NMA) was established in 1994 by a group of Windhoek manufacturers as the Association of Namibian Manufacturers. Its function at that stage was mainly to represent the manufacturers as a group in negotiations with Government.
    In 2002 it was transformed into a Section 21 Company (company not for gain but with full corporate operational responsibility) to create a formal organization which could also act as a legal entity. From a small beginning as an informal organization consisting of seven members, it has now grown to a formal organization consisting of 61 manufacturers with a permanent office and a variety of functions which it executes on behalf of the Namibian Manufacturers.

    Mandate
    The Association represents its members by being the watchdog and mouthpiece of Namibian Manufacturers in general.

    In 2005 the Association developed a strategic plan to guide the Association on its way forward. The Vision identified for the Association at this strategic session is:
      The Vision of the Association is to facilitate a sustainable, competitive & prosperous manufacturing/ processing industry for the benefit of all stakeholders.
